CHAOS
KILLS SALES
If "Putting Out Fires"
is part of your job description, I suspect you are losing sales
and opportunities simply because you lack focus and
organization. John Graham in his book, 203 Ways to be
Supremely Successful in the New World of Selling, points out
that chaos or disorganization is a killer in sales because it
inhibits thought, negates planning and drains energy. Let’s
take these points one at a time starting with how
disorganization inhibits thought.
Thoughtful planning is required
for ideas for more effective prospecting, strengthening the
sales process, marketing and general business development. And
thought requires uninterrupted quiet time. Have you ever noticed
that when you are thinking , colleagues and family members
assume that you are not doing anything and feel free to
interrupt? Happens all the time if you let it. And what’s
worse, if your day-- your schedule-- is disorganized and if you
fail to focus, you will be guilty of interrupting yourself
whenever you try to think and plan. Nothing gets done this way.
Let’s say that you have made
plans. You plan to send a helpful E-Newsletter to everyone in
your sphere of influence. This is a great prospecting tool and
you have found that it usually produces a lead or two and
usually a sale when you have the time to carry out the strategy.
And then, along comes CHAOS to wreck your plans. Instead of
sending out your E-newsletter you rush off to preview property
for a "Hot New Lead." Now, I’m not saying that
previewing property for a prospective buyer is something you
should ignore but I am saying that if you let it stop you from
an important task such as prospecting, you may lose money
because of it. A more organized approach might be to schedule a
time to meet with the Hot New Lead to give yourself time to
preview properties in preparation and in the meantime, complete
your prospecting task. An even better way to control chaos when
it comes to your E-newsletter is to make sure that as part of
your Web Design strategy a monthly E-newsletter goes out to your
database automatically. Please click on http://www.sellrealestate.net/realestatewebdesign.htm

Chaos drains energy. The
disorganized and unfocused agent is always in a dither. Gotta
run here! Can’t stop now! No time for thinking or planning!
Just reading these short, breathless statements will make you
tired.
Building a sense of order when
you are inundated with unending pressures demands a strong
commitment and the belief that you can control your day--A
belief that you can create a sales strategy and follow it. I
believe anyone who is determined can Kiss Chaos Goodbye and the
first step is the commitment to developing a Plan of Action.
